 JoJo started hobby baking in 2009, making cakes and cupcakes for friends and family to commemorate their big life events. When her first kid took an interest in baking at age 2, he put on his little apron and starting helping mommy in the kitchen. These moments are among JoJo’s most treasured, sparking a business idea centered on DIY cake decorating. After practicing law for 10 years, in 2022 JoJo joined forces with Katie, her long-time friend and business school colleague, to start Cake Hoopla.

Cake Hoopla opened its first cake-decorating studio in Tigard, Oregon in September 2023. The bright and airy studio features a private party room and open seating area for guests to decorate in large or small groups.

Cake Hoopla’s mission is to make fancy cake decorating accessible, so kids and adults alike can experience the joy of creating beautiful, delicious cakes . . . but without all the mess and cleanup. We do the hard work, leaving the fun stuff (decorating) to you! In the process, we take steps to protect the planet by using biodegradable and compostable packaging.
